Thanks for those very interesting translations Clive, I do like the sound of Poutine though, I would probably add bacon just to make it that little bit more decadent. Does anyone know what Tim Tams are I wonder, they would go very well with a Timmies.

Just have to jump in here because I just read this sentence in my book....."The sort of diner where Mom and Dad and drug-dealer son could share a poutine together."!!! And because of this whacky thread I know what a poutine is....

Poutine sounds like something I would really enjoy. Jacki’s idea of adding a bit of bacon to the dish sounds great too.
Tim Tams - Covering all my options I would guess if they would go with a Timmies they must be some sort of cookie, biscuit or cake perhaps!
Do you know what a bahookie is.

Skin and blister. Rooms and attics.
Put wood int oyle.
Know what - Funny farm - is?
Sorry, Jacki. The person had made a silly remark. Calling 'taxi' means they should be in the lunatic asylum.

Taxi and funny farm usually go together.
Put wood int oyle . . . close the door.
That may be a Yorkshire saying. It was a pretty common saying, when I was very young.

Yesterday morning the temp fell to 3°C at the local airport. It was a three dog night. Jacki will know this.

They are both so full of life and over the top. Surprisingly I knew a lot of the words the Yorkshireteers told us about. TV must have had more of an effect on me over the years than I thought.

@ Lillias. So pleased you both enjoyed. I thought the anthem was fantastic. It is in my favourites now. Jacki - I couldn't understand quite a lot of the words. But, I am from the more refined North Yorks. Those lads are the southern side.

Does anyone know what 'crikey' translates to? The late Steve Irwin, the crocodile hunter used it a lot.
