Sometimes I get this error on trying to save a photo that I have worked on. But it is not consistent. Any one else? Nothing on the Adobe Community board either.

error on trying to save a photo that I have worked on. Welcome cjt Can you describe the error message? (Assuming there is an actual error message.) Which version of PSE are you using?

Latest versions of PSE and OS X. The message is "IAC operation failed". I have been trying to make panoramas and get this, but not every time. Have also had it other times. I have been on this board before, lost name, etc, trying things again.

This is an InterApplication Communication (IAC) error. So the question is how are you getting the image into elements? From Organizer or just opening them up in Elements? There may be other issue at play, like enough memory, disk space etc.
You may want to open a ticket with adobe.

Hi cjt , welcome to PSE&M! Glad to have you here with us. For starters, . . . you're in good hands. fotofrank , an expert at PSE/PS and Mac user, got the troubleshooting going in the right direction. (I'm a Windows user.) He brought up the two variables to be considered when this IAC error message pops up. First, how you’re bringing your files into Elements. Second, this error may have nothing to do with Elements; it may be a Mac issue.

Fotofrank, thanks for the help! I am using files that are in Organizer. I suspect that this is a Mac thing. I run a late 2012 MacMini with 8GB RAM, so pretty modest machine. Sometimes the Organizer will show a file with the filename grayed out and the broken file symbol. I have looked in Finder at these and they are huge! Over 1 GB, so, that makes me suspect machine issue and not app issue. Also, my machine is much quicker using JPEG over RAW for obvious reasons.
Since this is about panoramas, how much overlap is needed? 30% 50%?? Thanks for the help.

how much overlap is needed? Good question. I probably shoot at about 50% overlap...more than needed. BTW, I take quite a few pano series as verticals. Example only a few days ago...about 50% or so.

I use a much newer Mac mini (2018, i7, 16gb) running Mac OS Catalina (10.15.5 all app are 64bit) and work on files Larger than 1gb tiff files all the time with no issues. I have to say that I never use Organizer for anything, I use Lightroom. If the file name is grayed out or the link is broken that would definitely be a problem and give you the error.
How much overlap is needed? enough to allow photoshop to do the job. 30% to 50% should work fine.

According to Adobe, . . .

It's not that I am unhappy with the results! The swimming pool at a local park looks like this.
