This is exciting. I was a member of another similar forum years ago, but it's long gone. This will be a large learning curve for me. My name is Mary B and I'm from SE Minnesota USA. Recently retired and anxious to get back to learning my camera. Nothing fancy, just a Canon SX50HS. I mostly play with my camera, as I don't really have a desire to get too technical. I love photographing my grandkids, and my surroundings. I don't have as much time to myself just yet, but looking for that to improve in time. I welcome any suggestions anyone has for me, and ask for patience as I learn the ropes. Looking forward to being a member.

I know there is a learning curve to getting comfortable here, but there are many members here that are eager to help, so if you are brave enough to ask a question I can assure you you will get an answer, and quickly!
The New Posts button on the main menu above will show you posts that have been made since you were last on, so it is a good way to see what the recent activity has been about, and the FAQ's board has some helpful tips on how to navigate this friendly space.

SleeveTugger, Welcome,
I was surprised to see that you use a Canon SX50hs. Awhile back I sold all my old cameras and all the add on lenses and bought an SX50. I am very pleased with it. So simple but it is just the right amount of adjustments I can easily handle. Most all the pictures in my gallery (Berengaria) were taken with that camera. Check them out.
Tony Britton.smugmug.com/other/Canon-sx50-HS-hints-tips has a web page that gives some very helpful hints on how he uses it.
For editing I use mostly Lightroom, Photos shop Elements and Impressions 2.
And the folks here at PSE & M are very helpful. I'd be lost without them.

 I am sure you will enjoy yourself here. There are expert photographers in our midst. And all are very willing to help. I keep things easy - my camera is always on automatic.  But I do enjoy playing around with images - and there are plenty of experts in that field, too. |

Welcome! This is a great forum and the people are so friendly and helpful.
I am more into turning my photos into photo art - some are successful and some are not. I'd be lost without Elements, Topaz and OnOne products.
Questions are always welcome here.

PS I also have the Canon SX50 and am very happy with it. If you don't like technical stuff and prefer to keep it on auto, that's fine. But I suggest you set it to "P" programme mode and also use raw + jpg. You will get much better results if you learn how to process the raw files.

I have sent a private message about the raw + jpg settings on the Canon SX50. If you need any help with processing raw or jpg files many members will be willing to help. Depending on what programme you use, you can start a thread in the relevant section of the Forum.
