It happened so quickly, so much of the action was a blur, but I caught a couple photos of what I believe to be a juvenile Coopers Hawk. He was after a little black squirrel. He came flying out of the sky and grabbed at the squirrel, making it hide in a tree. The hawk landed on the ground, then hopped up into the tree which caused the squirrel to make a run for cover in our tomato plants in the garden. Hawk flew to the fence and waited, peering into the foliage to catch a glimpse. Soon the squirrel made another dash for the cover of the pine trees. The hawk flew so close to the ground then disappeared between the houses. That's my excitement for the day.

That's my excitement for the day.
And the squirrel was even more excited.
