Ruffed Grouse ( Bonasa umbellus) Fun story. Thursday, September 10 at Police Outpost Lake in SW Alberta. After a good day of fishing we were sitting in camp at 6:45 PM thinking about making dinner. This goof flew into our camp at warp speed so low over our heads that I could have grabbed it...but I am old and slow ... and nearly in shock anyway! It landed in a nearby tree and hung around for a few minutes. Unfortunately it was in the shade, but it is what it is, and I was happy to see it and have it pose. (And for you photo nerds, this was shot at ISO 4,000!)

I like how you frequently have a story to share about your pictures, Clive. Fun post.

Thanks jim0004 and hmca. It was a neat experience and added dimension to an already good fishing trip in a beautiful part of the world. Clive

The unexpected photo ops are usually the best.
