Was trimming trees at the weekend and was surprised to find a Baltimore Oriole nest among the trimmings. They are usually up high but this one was only 8ft off the ground. Amazing construction that you can read about here. Zoom in and you can see the different materials she used to weave the nest. We had at least two oriole families around the bird feeders this year and they have just left to go down to Mexico for the winter. Tony

I've only seen a few Baltimore orioles and always thought it was a special treat when I did. As a kid I was quite interested in identifying, bird, trees, etc. The nest is beautiful and well preserved. When I was teaching one of the teachers had a variety of nests that she had collected after the birds abandoned them. A great share, Tony.
