I enjoyed reading through the quotes made by these well-known photographers. I hope that some of you might as well. If you find a quote that especially seems to "speak" to you, perhaps you could share it below. I especially liked this one...... "If a day goes by without my doing something related to photography, it’s as though I’ve neglected something essential to my existence, as though I had forgotten to wake up." - Robert Mapplethorpe
I do find that photography brings joy to my day. Also, focusing my attention on taking a picture can be a great distraction when needed.

"If a day goes by without my doing something related to photography, it’s as though I’ve neglected something essential to my existence, as though I had forgotten to wake up." - Robert Mapplethorpe Thanks Helen. Agree!! That's a great thought. You wrote "I do find that photography brings joy to my day." Also agree. I'd be lost without my camera gear and spending time with photos. Having camera gear is my excuse to go for a walk. We become better observers of nature and humanity when we take photos. There's a saying about fishing, "It's not about the fish, but the places it takes you." Ditto for photography. My wife does not take photos but has always enjoyed our vacations, day trips and walks and often we are somewhere specifically because I want to take photos. We both benefit. Thanks for your post. Clive PS: I'd miss things like this chickadee if I did not take photos.

PS: I'd miss things like this chickadee if I did not take photos. So that is what those little dudes are; we have dozens, more like hundreds, of those little birds around here and I had no idea what they were.

There are some gems in that list, but I think I can identify with this one.
Life is like a camera. Just focus on what’s important and capture the good times, develop from the negatives and if things don’t work out, just take another shot. - Unknown

My two favourites.
If you see something that moves you, and then snap it, you keep a moment.
- Linda McCartney
Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever… It remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything.
- Aaron Siskind
When I look at my old photos, I often recall things which I hadn't thought about for years.
