Here is an interesting and free "water ripples" plug in by Redfield Plugins that can produce very realistic effects. The disadvantage is that it can only be used with older 32 bit editors. www.redfieldplugins.com/filterWaterRipples.htmI would be interested to hear if anyone has found a plug in that can do something similar. Kind regards Chris

Here is an interesting and free "water ripples" plug in by Redfield Plugins that can produce very realistic effects. The disadvantage is that it can only be used with older 32 bit editors. Thanks; I always like something free. I may be the only one around here that insists on using an antique version of Elements; but, I will put this here in case there are any more of us. When you visit the "water ripples" page, there are two download options. The more obvious download option is NOT the plug-in, but a zip-file package of presets for the plug-in; clicking this button immediately starts a download of the preset package. Clicking the other download option does not immediately start a download, but instead takes you to a page listing all of the available downloads; on this page, the Water Ripples plug-in is included within a binary file package of nine plug-ins, about a third of which are free and the rest are demos. I see no means of separating the free plug-ins from the demos. I have some other similar packages installed from other vendors; and, the demo plug-ins remain in the filter menu and either take you to a website when you try to use them, place a big DEMO watermark on the finished result, or allow you to use the demo, but not allow you to save the finished result. These demo plug-ins just sort of lurk there in the filter menu, like a steel trap, until one day you think "I wonder what that is" and click on it, only to lead to disappointment.

I see no means of separating the free plug-ins from the demos. BuckSkin, it is possible. For example, if you want only the Water Ripples plug-in, . . . - Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 7.0\Plug-Ins\Redfield - Open the Redfield folder. - Delete all the files for the other plug-ins. - Leave only these two files inside the folder -- Additional Ppresets.txt and WaterRipples.8bf
- When you open PSE 7 and go to Filter>Redfield, only the Water Ripples plug-in will be available.

BuckSkin, it is possible. Thanks; after I made the post, I got to thinking that may be possible, but I had not yet investigated. I guess the same holds true for all of those useless AutoFX demo plug-ins and several others that I have accumulated over the years. I may do a bit of house cleaning.

Buckskin, I agree with Sepiana. Its possible to keep just the filters you need. Each filter has its own 8bf file so simply delete the ones you don't need. During the install you will be asked which filters you want. I have attached a screenshot that shows that 5 of the 9 (32 bit) filters are the full version. The other 4 with the words demo will work but will have the words "Demo" written on the output file. Redfield also offer a few other free filters on their downloads page available as both 64 bit and 32 bit I think. I quite like the "Water Ripples" plugin and its a shame that it is not available as 64 bit. I keep PSE 9 installed on my system whenever I need to use a 32 bit plugin. Kind regards Chris

During the install you will be asked which filters you want. Thanks for this and for making us aware of the plug-in. It is good to know that one can pick and choose on install. I have the files in my Downloads folder; I need to get them relocated to my Programs folders and then installed. (My personally created Programs folders, NOT the C: drive one)
