Hello everyone. Long long time no post! Hope everyone is well.
Is it possible to do superscript & subscript in PSE? (I am using PSE 19)
Am designing a poster for my daughter & need to be able to this All I can think of is to simplify the text, then select the numbers that need to be sub/super script & move them. Only problem is that then the text is no longer editable....

BaylaThis could be a bit complex, but one way is simply to create the super and subscript numbers/letters in a separate text layer and move manually into place. Could be many layers if your poster is complex. Good luck Clive

Hi Bayla, You can create the text in a word processor with those capabilities and copy and paste into elements as a vector object that is scaleable. The text would always be editable in the word processor, then just repeat the process.

Clive,
Thanks. I tried that & it seems to have worked, (after first making a copy of the text in case it gets amended!) At least all the superscript numbers are on their own layers so if they need moving around again it will be quicker.

Fotofrank,
How do I copy & paste into PSE as a scaleable vector object?

Thanks for asking your question; I was about to ask what on earth is superscript and subscript; but, then, I saw the examples and I take it to mean the little offset "2"s . I never knew that before. I will try to remember this and throw it in conversation with some of my know-it-all acquaintances; they will pretend to know exactly what it means and then be Google-searching a definition as soon as my back is turned.

Bayla, You don't have to know elements will do it for.
Select your text, Press Ctrl/Cmd+c in the word processor. Once you are in elements Press Ctrl/Cmd+v and the text will show up on it's own layer as a Vector smart object that you can scale as needed.

I like Clive's way of doing this - separate text layers. It's the most versatile - and the simplest.

Fotofrank,
Aha! My problem was that I was trying to Copy & Paste into a text box and it was changing all the little superscript numbers into regular full size ones. When I just did Ctrl-V it pasted it but when I did that why don't I get a little icon showing it is a vector object? I just get my text showing up really small on a white background.and although I can scale it up I can't edit it, plus I needed it to fit into a specific sized box.
Thanks for explaining it to me though,
Bayla

I like Clive's way of doing this - separate text layers. It's the most versatile - and the simplest. Me too. Was fiddly as I had about 18 little numbers to do but it looks really good now. And thank goodness for the ability to group all those layers together - one of the best things that has been ontroduced into PSE in recent years!

Thanks for asking your question; I was about to ask what on earth is superscript and subscript; When you HAD to learn Latin in high school (really showing my age now, but in England you HAD to learn Latin to study medicine, law and languages at university) - it definitely helps in later life being able to understand the etymology of words. Sub means below or underneath (think subway, subterranean) and super means above! And of course script means writing.

Andrei,
Thanks, I had forgotten about Elements+. A question, what is the latest version of Elements+ and is there an free upgrade for registered users? I have it on my old PSE15, but not on PSE19.

Bayla, * All versions of PSE are supported. ** Elements+ for each version of PSE is offered as an independent product ("Elements+ for PSE 15", "Elements+ for PSE 2019", etc.). Free/discounted upgrades between E+ products are not provided. *** However, you can add E+15 tools into the PSE 2019 Effects panel for free by changing "15.0" to "17.0" in the path suggested by the installer. *** Or just add E+15 actions into the PSE 2019 Actions panel. (e.g., "Load Actions" > C:/Elements+/15.0/Actions/Elements+.atn) Then, to access the "superscripting" feature, run the "Text" action.
