I am now using PSE 12
I open 2 images & now i see two tabs with each image on.
I wish to put the second photo on top the first photo but i dont see how to now do it.
Before in PSE 9 i could drage the photo at the bottom of the screen onto the first image which is opened in front of me but these settings etc are now different to each other

ipbr21054If I understand you correctly ... Not sure about PSE 12. Go to ... EDIT > PREFERENCES > GENERAL
Then select Allow floating documents in Expert Mode
Then you two images will be separate when opened and you can drag one onto the other. Is this it? Clive

Hi, That works but not what im looking for.
In PSE 9 I opened two photos and one would be on the main screen and looked like the other in project bin at bottom of screen.
In PSE 12 i open x amount of images and all are separate windows on the main screen, need to open 1 on main screen and others in project.

First of all, there is no need to turn on Allow Floating Documents in Expert Mode. The display mode you want -- one image only in the workspace and the others in the Photo Bin -- is the default. Click on the Layout button at the bottom of the screen and select "Default".

Back in PSE 9, Adobe introduced Tabs/Tabbed Images; that's what you are seeing. However, not all the images are open in the workspace. Only the one you selected (the one with a blue line around the thumbnail in the Photo Bin) is being displayed in the workspace. If you don't want the other images to be displayed (as tabs and in the Photo Bin), just close them. You mentioned in your OP . . . I open 2 images now i see two tabs with each image on. I wish to put the second photo on top the first photo but i dont see how to now do it. If that's what you want to do, just drag the second image from the Photo Bin onto the first image in the workspace. You could also do one of the following to display the two images side-by-side in the workspace. Go to Window > Images > Tile. OR
Click on the Layout button and select "All Column". Then, use the Move tool or do Copy/Paste to put one image on top of the other.

ipbr21054 Hi again. I am still not 100% sure about your need and if it is solved or not. Sepiana has provided info. Not sure of these help. I am using PSE 2018 vs PSE 12. You might want to look at these in full size by clicking on them. I could bring one more image (from the photo bin) to the editing area and drag and drop one onto the other. (Having two images in the active area and three more dormant images in the Photo Bin.) Clive

ipbr21054, Glad to hear the problem is solved. Success with your project! If you need further help with Elements 12, just post. Adobe did a major overhaul of Elements back in v11; in v12 some features were removed. These changes can be quite confusing if one is coming from Elements 9.
