Hi everyone, Would you like to participate in the Weekly Photo Challenge? Just take a photo that is your interpretation of the theme and post it in this thread. - Your photo(s) should be your own, i.e., they should not have been taken by someone else. - Photoshopping is allowed but should be kept to the basics only rather than a total transformation. - Grab your camera, experiment, and, most of all, have fun.
NOTE
This week’s theme is about capturing a subject that you can hear its sound. Grab your camera, keep quiet, and . . . listen!

Native American Pan Pipes. I love the sound of pan pipes. They have a kind of haunting quality about them I always think.

He's been a regular visitor and although you don't know the tunes played he does make you feel you can listen for hours, I always sit on the park bench whilst wife goes off shopping.

FAR (far!) less appealing than pan flutes! My neighbor's shop vacuum.

"Sound" phots taken this afternoon around the yard and flying over. Should explain the geese. There are tens of thousands in the county and they stay all winter. They lost the ability to migrate decades ago as the river stays open all winter through the nearby city (because it is heated by assorted municipal processes like water treatment). The geese find wheat, corn and peas to eat in stubble fields all winter. If the stubble gets covered for a few days they have enough body fat (a lot of it) to carry then over. They hunkered down during that last storm and now the fields are bare again. We love birds in the yard and feed sunflower seeds all winter. House sparrows are not a fave, but there are plenty of them and they are happy little birds signing all day long. House finches have an incredible song in spring. Geese fly over all year long (expect when it is very cold) and they are a treat to hear! The title is a play on words from a 1991 movie, Boyz in the Hood. (Which I never saw as I've never been a movie person ... rare exception.)

This was an interesting exercise in using all of our senses to find the next photo. I started out with some preconceived ideas, but began to listen for shots. I heard this one coming up quick behind me and was able to get off one quick pan. Thanks for the theme and the lesson Sepiana!

Well panned Bill - it's hard to do especially when coming up fast from behind - perfect focus and positioning on the bike. Last time I tried, the bike was just about to leave the frame which isn't good.

So in the beginning of the week I was paying attention to every sound.....the water running, the washer/dryer, TV, phone, toaster.....etc. But I wanted something unique. Finally I knew what I wanted a picture of but didn't know if I would be able to get it. And then today...... My granddaughter's frogs. u.cubeupload.com/HMCA/FROGS.jpgSound from youtube

One more in B&W . The bell on top of a no longer used church so hasn't sounded in quite a while although it looks like it could! Although I took the picture this morning it was a very dull day and snowing so I replaced the sky with one taken earlier to add a little more interest to the background. Tony

Native American Pan Pipes. Jim, great finding! These are one of the most beautiful musical sounds. Great DOF and spot-on focus on the player.

A look inside the piano .. Tony, great shot -- zooming in, filling the frame, and . . . a subject that struck a chord with me. (I used to play the piano.)
