I bought a new computer and added Elements 9 to it with my CD but now the scroll feature quit working when editing a page full of photos. The scroll bar works fine but not the bulk of the page. Now I have to use the scroll bar every time I want to move a bit down the page full of thumbnails.

Did you check the preferences? A new install usually takes you back to square one and you have to reset the preferences.

You seem to be talking about being in the Editor but I don't understand the "page full of thumbnails". To me this looks like the Organizer. Can you clarify this? Give us more details? Your answers will determine the direction of our troubleshooting. BTW, hold on your horses! Don't delete/reset the Preferences file. Elements has two Preferences files -- one for the Organizer and one for the Editor. We need to know where this problem is before we go down this route.

I sell things one Ebay and take 150+- pictures a week and they go from my camera to a folder on my desktop for that week. I quickly adjust every one for lightness, color etc, in Elements and give them a letter and number to keep track of them. When I am manipulating them the thumbnails on the page (about 150) they won't scroll up and down like they did on my last computer. Everything else still scrolls fine including this page though. Nothing to do with the organizer........never use it.

Are you talking about the Photo Bin at the Bottom? If so do you have show open files selected? Is the scroll handle showing? Providing a screen shot of the issue would be helpful.

It helps a lot. fotofrank - Thanks for asking this question! It pointed in the direction of which variable to test. I don't have PSE 9 so I did the troubleshooting using PSE 10. (I made sure "Show open files" was selected.) Here are my findings . . . If I open enough photos to populate only the top row of the Photo Bin, the scroll feature won't work. If I open enough photos that there will be more than one row in the Photo Bin, the scroll feature works just fine. I have to admit I'm not sure this is the root of the problem in PSE 9. See if this will solve your problem; post back with the results. If no success, there are other variables we can check.

intel7, Coming back here to let you know that I did more troubleshooting using PSE 11 through PSE 2021; my earlier findings were confirmed.

Earlier in this thread, fotofrank made the suggestion below. Would you please post a screenshot of the page you are talking about, the one where the scroll feature won't work? It will very helpful when we try to replicate the problem on our computers. Thanks in advance! Providing a screen shot of the issue would be helpful.

I am struggling to figure out why this is a photoshop issue. The scrolling in the folder on your desktop doesn't work?

I am struggling to figure out why this is a photoshop issue. The scrolling in the folder on your desktop doesn't work? The folder contents (thumbnails of pictures) are taken into elements to be fixed and then quit scrolling. I can open the folder when sitting on the desktop and it scrolls fine then.

Images taken into elements are put in there own separate tab. You click on the tab of the image that you want. I have not seen scrolling between tabs in the editor - Organizer may be a different story.

(Thanks, fotofrank!)Adobe introduced Tabs/Tabbed Images in PSE 9. If you bring, for example, 50 photos into the Editor, all of them will be displayed as tabs as well as thumbnails in the Photo Bin. However, by default, only one image will be displayed in the workspace. When I tested the scroll feature in PSE 10 (the closest version to PSE 9 I have) in this default scenario, the scrolling feature didn't work. So, I tried this . . . 1. Clicked on the Arrange button on the menu bar. 2. In the drop-down menu, I selected Tile All in Grid. 3. Now all the tabbed photos were displayed in the workspace. 4. Tried scrolling each photo up and down. No problem!! It worked. I'm not really sure this troubleshooting finding will help you. Give it a try and post back with the results.

Sepiana; this forum layout is confusing compared to my other forums but the "tile all in grid" method worked! Yer' so smart and I guess we both learned something here. Thanks so much!.................Brent
