I often require to make small alterations to an image I have previously applied a general levels correction to in the editing process using Elements 2018. If I use the Clone tool or use a selection and content aware fill, it sources the content from the original un-corrected layer.
If I have lightened the sky using levels, and want to remove a branch, or similar item, the content aware copies from the darker original layer and the clone tool does the same. Is there a method to get them to source the changed content from the image including the levels correction ( or other similar ), to get a matching replacement?

If I am understanding the situation, you need to create a "Stamp Visible" layer before using the Clone Tool; thus, the Clone Tool will source from the project up to that point. If you do not have an actual Stamp Visible command, the same thing can be accomplished by doing Layer > Merge Visible --- except that you hold the clicker at Merge Visible and press and hold the Alt key while you release Merge Visible; this will create a layer that comprises everything you have done so far. It is best to not do your cloning on the Stamp Visible layer, but to add a blank layer on top, make sure "All Layers" or "Sample All Layers" is chosen, and do your cloning work on the blank layer. I hope I explained this such that it makes sense. Another option is to select the Background Layer, add a blank layer above the Background Layer, and do your cloning on that blank layer; doing thus will place your cloning repairs ahead of everything else and those effects will then also apply to the Background and cloning --- providing that there is not a Stamp Visible layer or other layer that creates a Stamp Visible in it's execution that is above the Clone Tool layer at the time the Clone Tool layer is created.

Select the "Sample All Layers" option. When this option is selected, data from all visible layers will be sampled. Then, create a blank layer above the adjustment layer (Levels) to do the cloning.
