Day 13 - I know it's not PC to love one chicken over another, but Miss Purple will be 9 years old soon and was one of my first ever flock of 4 chickens, all Columbian Wyandotte bantams. They all looked the same so I had coloured leg tags to distinguish who was who, hence why she was named Miss Purple. Misses Blue,Yellow and Orange have all gone to the great henhouse in the sky. live.staticflickr.com/65535/50829028368_ca026f94fd_k.jpg

Oh cool! The authorities here ban backyard chickens or else my wife would have one. You are fortunate. Thanks.

I currently have 5 girls in my flock, they roam free in their own section of the yard and provide the occasional egg or two, and lots of fertilizer for the garden. No roosters allowed in suburbia, these girls are really just pets to me.

what on earth could be their reasoning? Few cities and towns here allow chickens in urban yards. Not sure about reasoning: real or imagined noise, smell. Dunno. Kinda silly when we can hear dogs yipping and barking thought the day. However, because of our climate, our 'pet' chickens would have to become human food come very autumn as we could not keep them outside in winter unless we had a heated coop. Anyway, am a bit envious and like you photo.

Miss Purple is a cutie and I'm glad she has other girls to keep her company and play with.

Day 15 - Where do you keep your whale vertebrae? I found this piece of whalebone (from South Australia) in a private garden in New South Wales.

Do green tomatoes taste the same as red ones? Sort of a different taste. Fried green tomatoes are delicious! jackscrap are those in your yard or greenhouse?
