They almost always perch on made-made structures in part because there are few trees where they hang out in winter. This one was on a power pole. Southern Alberta, January 8, 2021.

Great photo Clive, wonderful clarity of the bird’s snowy feathers. I’ve been following a guy on FB who rescues injured owls and rehabilitates them, some of his webcam footage is amazing. His name is Robert E Fuller, a wildlife artist who lives in Yorkshire.
