My collages just end up being thumbnails because of missing files. But before I started my first collage, I ran the Missing File finder for "All" and there were no missing files. But now the collages I created show up as missing files or as fuzzy thumbnails in the Organizer. I've tried "Reconnect" a number of times.
What should I do to fix this?
This is the organizer showing the four "missing" collages. The one on the right just shows thumbnail images.:
I get the screen below when I go to save the new collage. I don't know what "Untitled-1.pse" is. When I click NO, nothing is saved. When I click YES I get the collage in the Organizer but when I click on it, it indicates missing files.
All the individual photos in the collages were complete, connected images - nothing missing.

I thought the collage problem was solved with the creation of a new Catalog. The collages I created were reconstituted with the new Catalog. They were viewable for awhile. Then after adding names to several dozen photos not related at all to the collages, I went back to the collages and they were "broken" and not retrievable again. This is one persnickety program.
While this program has "great" features, if they don't work well, there are few redeeming qualities.

Sorry, but I don't understand how creating a new catalog could solve the missing files issue in your collage projects. Normally, if you delete source files included in a project,
- from the organizer: you should be prompted that the action will break some project - outside of the organizer: The pse will still be there with missing contents.
If you import the pse project in a new catalog, there will be no change or reconection?

Well, michelb, sad to say, I've given up on Elements 2021. It seems to have a mind of its own in my particular computer environment. The $99 PSE and PE have gone back to Amazon. For me, glitch resolution became the primary time consumer instead of organizing and editing.
I've reverted to my Elements 9 and my Lightroom 5 which give me NO problem at all with the organizers, strange as that may sound. For the rare times I may do Camera RAW, I will find other avenues.
Thank you for all the help.
The good Lord willing and the cricks don't rise, I may try Elements again in a future revision.
By the way, the files weren't "missing." They were there. The many times I looked for the "missing files" it said there were none. The alleged "missing files" opened fine, full resolution in the Organizer individually. But the collage function would not let them connect or whatever its supposed to do. Too much aggravation for me.
