I am always amazed when I learn about a new bird. Or any new species. Isn’t nature wonderful.

N is for Nasturtiums (painted in PS) I like this Jacki, your talent is there to be seen, but I can't help wishing that there was a full flower head included somewhere in the scene...

N is for Nasturtiums (painted in PS) Jacki, could you tell us a bit how you did this? Did you use filters or did you do it with brushes? I really like your painting.

Thank you Helen, I’ll try to explain my very simple process. Started with a green background, drew in the leaf shape using Wacom pen, so much easier than the mouse which I have put away for good. I used a few different brushes to colour in the leaf, and finer ones to add detail. Same process for the flower, then a few ctrl j’s to duplicate the leaves and flowers to fill in the page. I added a texture background and played with the blend modes to see what worked, masking out the leaves and flowers. The nasturtiums are taking over the garden bed in earnest, thought they would make an easy subject to try.

Thanks, Jacki. I think your results are quite impressive. I am left-handed...but I use my right hand for the mouse. As a result I have never been tempted to get a tablet as I think I would have a hard time trying to use it.

I believe that pens and tablets can be configured for left handed people, something you can reset in the preferences. No one in my family can be bothered to learn how to use the pen, hence they leave my PC alone, suits me just fine. Lol. My Wacom was one of the smallest and cheapest out there, but I love it and will never go back to a mouse. So far, very few problems, thankfully I have a couple of techies in the family that help me out, think I had to upgrade a few drivers? nothing too difficult.

When I first got a computer I didn’t know about tablets and I also didn’t know that a mouse could be configured to use with the left hand the result being that I have always used the mouse with my right hand. I am left handed and have a small Wacom Bamboo Tablet and yes you can configure it for left handed use. There is a bit of a learning curve to using a tablet and I didn’t persevere so it lies unused now. The fact that I mostly use my laptop on my lap now, makes it impossible to use a tablet...I do know that those who have persevered say they will never go back to using a mouse and I can understand that. For someone who designs or paints it gives a lot more flexibility to do things than a mouse. One of the main things being you can use pressure sensitivity which you can’t with a mouse.

C is for Comfy PillowBecause I have no photos to scrap and I am not fond of using photos from photo sharing sites unless I have to, I am sharing some of my 'oldies but goodies' layouts from my stash Looking back, I see techniques I no longer think of using -In this case, I clipped background paper to the first letter of each word in the title - it's an effective but super simple way to jazz up a title Layer styles complete the look I cut a piece out of background paper as backing for the date I no longer have info about who's kit or template these are - the photo is mine

Fun share. I like the brown/blue color combo. Nice tip about the lettering, it is very effective.
