First of all, I am unsure where my question(s) belong.
I want to move from Photoshop Elements 19 to 20, but I have questions. Among those questions are the following:
It's my understanding (perhaps I've got it wrong) that Photoshop Elements will move from a single purchase program to a subscription fee in the not too distant future. If this is true, what version will that start with?
I am not sure if I will need a more advanced operating system than I currently have to move from 19 to 20 or 21.
It seems to me I have seen pretty detailed discussions about this issue but am unsure how to find them. So far I haven't had much luck in looking for them.
I am currently running Photoshop Elements 19 on an iMac OS 10.13.6 (High Sierra).
Any help greatly appreciated.
Pat

Hi Pat, Photoshop Elements continues to be released with a perpetual license. I haven't seen any reports that Adobe will change it to a subscription mode. I have PSE 2020 and PSE 2021 running on two computers. I can confirm that they are not part of the CC subscription. As to the system requirements for PSE 2021 on a Mac, please see this Adobe document.

As Sepiana has stated - Photoshop Elements is a perpetual license. I have never seen anything factually saying it will be a subscription based product.
Your Mac OS is over 15+ updates older than the current release of Big Sur. Both PSE 2020 and 2021 require OS 10.14 at a minimum. You will need to check to see if your Hardware will support any higher version of software. OS 10.14 is the last Mac OS that supports 32 bit programs. You may want to check to see if your other programs are supported in the updated release that you are looking at.

Hello, Sepiana and Frank
Thank you both for this information. It is what I was looking for. I am going to jump to the Adobe document that Sepiana suggests to see what else I need to know re system requirements.
Much obliged for the help.

frizzylee, you are most welcome! Glad to be of help. Please, heed fotofrank's expert advice "to see if your Hardware will support any higher version of software". As you are also considering upgrading to PSE 2020, here are the system requirements for this version. Post back if you have further questions!
