This video from Matt Kloskowski has some very interesting Lightroom tips - none of which I knew about and at least a couple I could use often. Worth a look if you're a Lightroom user. Tony

Tony,
Thanks! I'm on my way to check it. I'm sure I will learn something that will improve my Lightroom workflow.

I watched this this morning. I would really like to get a handle on color grading. I have seen images where I really like the results but when I try it myself I am never happy. Has anyone had success trying this? Any images to share?

I watched this this morning. I would really like to get a handle on color grading. I have seen images where I really like the results but when I try it myself I am never happy. Has anyone had success trying this? Any images to share? I've been playing around with color grading a bit more - and watching a few tutorials and I'm starting to get results I like. Here's an example of one image I played with where out of the camera I thought it was too blue so wanted to tone down the blue, lift the shadows and warm up the image. In the past I'd have played around in the basic panel but the result below was done only using the color grading panel - adjusting the color and luminosity in the shadows, highlights and mid-tone. I think the key was working on the individual panels for shadows etc rather than the combined panel as well as the luminance sliders. See what you think. Tony

Thanks for sharing your examples, Tony. You have made the bench area look much more inviting. I found another video on color grading that I thought was interesting. Now I have to make time to experiment a bit as you have done. Hopefully in the next day or two I'll have something to share.

That was the same video that got me discovering how color grading could be used and learning about the concept of tonal separation as applied to color (I'd thought of it as more relevant to black and white). I also found the choice of image interesting as I have lots like that and would never have thought of color grading a brightly colored image like that. Tony

That looks very good (and better than the one I tried on the same image). I went blue but sunset looks much better.

Thanks, Tony. I am trying to be more disciplined and getting a better handle on how he makes his adjustments in the video. Hopefully I will have something to post later.
