Hello, I've been using PE to "cartoonify" photographs, primarily using the Comic filter (under Sketch). However, it has its limitations, especially if the subject is not well lit, so I'm wondering what else people are using. Please pass along any tutorials or tips, or other approaches. I've seen tutorials using Posterize, Cutout, and combo approaches making line drawings of photos and overlaying that over a blurred version of the base image.
Here are two samples from a comic book project I'm working on:
Thanks! Harry

Harry, if you are not familiar with this site you may find Panos' actions helpful to creating your cartoons.

Harry, welcome to PSE&M! You may want to check a tutorial written by fotofrank (a master at tutorial writing) for Creative Challenge #114. It's a very easy tutorial, just a few steps but very effective and leaves the door open for tweaking. It uses the Poster Edges and the Halftone Pattern filter, and blending modes. Creative Effects Challenge No. 114 - Comic Book EffectBTW, which Elements version do you use? Are you on a PC or on a Mac?

Thanks, both of you! I'm using 2020, about to update to 2021 on Windows 10. Using it on a MS Surface. I'll check out the actions and tutorials!
