I have two folders within my Elements 12 Plugins folder; Perfect Effects 9.plugin and ON1 Effects 10.plugin.
Within each of these folders is a Perfect Effects 8LI file and a VCBProxyInfo.plist file.
There are no 8BF files associated with the two folders.
I have both standalone programs; Perfect Effects 9 and ON1 Effects 10.
I can find nothing regarding these two plugin folders anywhere in the Elements 12 menus; there is no mention of them in the Filters menu like there is for everything else that is in the plugins folder.
I may very well have put these folders in the Elements 12 plugins folder, but I sure do not remember doing it.
What are these folders, what purpose should they serve, and of what benefit are they to me ?
How do I activate whatever it is that they are supposed to do ?

BuckSkin, - I have PSE 12 with ON1 Effects 10 installed. - The installer (.exe) will install it as both a standalone and a plug-in. -- C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 12\Plug-Ins> . . - I have the same files. No .8bf file but the two files you mention -- . 8li and .plist. - The plug-in is designed to be available via both the Filter menu and File>Automation Tools. - This is not happening. - On the other hand, ON1 Effects 10 works just fine in PSE 13 (via both the Filter menu and File>Automation Tools). - The only thing I can think of is that, in Windows, PSE 12 is a 32-bit app and PSE 13 is a 64-bit app. C:\ Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 12\Plug-Ins\ . . . C:\ Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 13\Plug-Ins\ . . . As to Perfect Effects, this is what ON1 has to say . . . Source: Important Notice for Owners of Perfect EffectsIf you scroll down to the bottom of that page, there is a link to contact their Customer Service. They will be able to address this issue with Photo Effects 10.

Thanks; I bet you are right about the plugins not working on account of the host being 32-bit.
Alas, I was hoping I had stumbled on something useful.

Buckskin, its a long shot, but try looking under File/Automation tools. Its possible that On1 effects might be there. Kind regards Chris
