See if this article on High Pass sharpening, suggested by Buckskin, might be helpful to you, Charles. Written for PS, it works basically the same in PE. Aww forgot all about that one Helen, I've used it few times. Thank you Helen. Gosh all these new suggestions, I am going to be quite busy, plus I do have other projects to work on. What am I complaining about? I am now retired!! |

I must revisit sharpening moon photos. I am never happy even doing everything "correctly."

Do I need to create the Merged-Visible/Stamp layer BEFORE I do the High Pass sharpening at a strength of 8? I have no idea what steps are needed to do that above step. To make a Merge Visible layer, make sure your top layer is active/selected --- in the Layer menu, click and HOLD Merge Visible then hold the Alt key before releasing the Merge Visible. This should create a new layer that reflects all of your work up to that point. Charles, Buckskin already got you going in the right direction. I'm just adding more information. A Stamp Visible layer (composite layer) is a combination of all your visible layers. Elements will combine the contents of those layers into a new layer at the top of the stack. If you don't want a layer (or layers) to be included in the composite layer, just turn off the visibility of those layers. The advantage of creating a composite layer is that you can work on this layer while leaving the other layers untouched. In this way, you can go back to them if you need to. There is more than one way to create a Stamp Visible layer. Using a shortcut:1. Make sure the top layer in the stack is selected. 2. Press this key combo -- Shift+Alt+Ctrl+E (Shift-Option-Cmmd-E on a Mac). Via the Layer menu:1. Hold down the Alt key (Option on a Mac). 2. Slide your cursor down the Layer menu options until you get to Merge Visible. 3. Let the mouse go and release the Alt/Option key. NOTE:If you don't do the "sliding", the moment you click on Merge Visible the drop-down menu will just disappear (close). |
