Many times, I have read of the wonderful attributes of ExifTool.

However, every time I took it into my head to install it and put it to use, I got overwhelmed and in over my head with all the meticulous technical steps involved; maybe it was just a mental roadblock on my part; anyhow, I never could seem to go on with it.
Then I found this:
oliverbetz.de/pages/Artikel/ExifTool-for-Windows
Using this guy's simple installer package and following his simple instructions took me less than five minutes and no messing with things I had no idea about.
Once ExifTool was installed, I could then use this:
exiftool.org/gui/
Mostly, the use of terms different to my way of understanding things created a bit of confusion for me when I tried to follow the instructions; but, once I got past that, I was able to get it somewhat figured out; and, now, I can add and edit metadata into my RAW files prior to them being converted, instead of having to wait and add the data into the jpegs.
Information I install straight into the RAW file, going to the head of the creek - so to say, is preinstalled into any resulting TIFF, PSD, and jpeg.
Any subsequent files that I may create from these RAW files will inherit that data.
And, the data is contained within the RAW file itself and not in some annoying "sidecar" tagalong file that must needs be kept beside the RAW master and also made certain to always have the exact same name as the RAW.
Thus far, I have only used ExifToolGUI to make any manipulations; I have not yet made use of the even more powerful ExifTool in Command Line; the Command Line language is still all Chinese to me.
I have used the Command Line many times in the past; but, I always have had a "Command" that I could just copy/paste and hit Enter.
