Hello all.
I am trying to change the background color from white to #bedfe4 but for some reason Photoshop Elements will not let me "fill".
Any ideas...??
Thanx in advance.

Hi driven - welcome to the forum! I just tried doing a fill with bedfe4 on a white background and didn't have any probs. I am using PSE13. Do you get any kind of message when you try?

Hi
I've just tried it on your image. I copied your image to PSE 12, opened the colour picker and input your colour numbers then, using the Paint Bucket Tool, just clicked on the white background and it filled with your colour. Some of the letters,ie A, and O had white in the 'holes' but I was able to fill them, using the Paint Bucket Tool
How have you been trying to do it? What version PSE are you using (in case it makes a difference)?

Hi.
Thanx for the responses.
I am using PSE 11.
Nothing happens when I hit the white area with the bucket tool. I wonder if because it is a JPEG file, it is not seeing all the white space as white space but some kind of interlaced colors.
I know very little to figure this out.

I'm not sure if this would work but did you try using the magic wand to delete the white background? Then you should be able to add the color of your choice I think.

Some of the letters,ie A, and O had white in the 'holes' but I was able to fill them, using the Paint Bucket Tool It looks like the "Contiguous" setting was turned on in the Tool Options bar. If this setting is on, Elements will change only the areas of the color you click which are touching one another. If this setting is off, Elements will change all areas of the chosen color; it doesn't matter if they are touching one another or not.

Yes....just did this in PE 11. I'm wondering if driven 13 omitted using the magic wand tool?
Did it again without the magic wand and that worked as well......hope you've figured it out driven.

It works just fine. Something else is going on here. Check the settings in the Tools Options bar. Make sure that Opacity is set to 100% and the Mode is set to Normal. Also, because there are non-contiguous areas of white, turn off the "Contiguous" setting.

I'd never even considered the settings! Thank you very much, Sepiana Regarding the original questionh, I'm always amazed how these questions develop into good discussion, other members trying the same thing so to try and work out what could be the problem, and to result in such a good outcome, where others are also able to learn too. What a fantastic forum!
