Curious as to how you got this shot It was waddling at the edge of a parking lot. For a few seconds it faced me and walked a few feet toward me. I was using a 600-mm lens so was still a ways back, thus the eye-level appearance. More luck than anything. I also took a short video that I might post later today.

Slow day in Cliveville. I managed to get the river valley for a short walk .. was very quiet. "Not a creature was stirring..." and it was warmish although a tad breezy. A chickadee and the same old tree.

Female white-breasted nuthatch. Probably the best small bird for posing. Cute little chirps too.

Those look very tasty Helen! A blizzard going on here at the moment and the birds are waiting for their feeders to be filled - will have to venture outside and keep them happy. Taken from inside with lots of clarity adjustment to see through the snow. Tony

the birds are waiting for their feeders to be filled OMG! Tony, that is awesome. Cardinal and a jay together. We do not have cardinals here, although there are a few way farther north around Edmonton. Good luck with your storm. We suffered through five days of record-breaking cold and now it has started to "warm" and will be sunny and above freezing on the weekend. Lucky us. Stay safe.

Have you tried "craisens" vs fresh or frozen? Being I only make these once a year, I do fresh cranberries, Clive. I see in the reviews that people have used craisens and were happy with them. We think so, Jim. Bet they would go well with your hot chocolate

It "warmed" up here today and will be sunny and well above freezing starting Sunday. Yay. Got out for a short walk this afternoon. Whitetails are normally shy and spooky. I was the only one in this trail at the time. This spring fawn seemed curious and walked toward me. Was sweet.

And from this morning......was hoping I'd be able to capture this.... Not often seen here, sea smoke occurs when the air temperature is below 10 degrees Fahrenheit

And from this morning......was hoping I'd be able to capture this.... Not often seen here, sea smoke occurs when the air temperature is below 10 degrees Fahrenheit Unfortunately I can't see this as imgbb.com is down just now. Apparently it's down for everyone according to the 'Is it down right now' website.

sea smoke occurs when the air temperature is below 10 degrees Fahrenheit Great capture Helen. Love things like this. The steam (sea smoke) is sharp and nicely (back?) lighted. Nice effect. This is funny. You know we just got through 5 days of record-breaking cold. Wind chill here two days ago was -50°C (-58°F) and today it is +2°C or 36°F. Hope everyone there is doing well. Clive
