As noted elsewhere, I had a couple of hours to spare this afternoon so went over to the BOP and watched the flying demos. This is a young bald eagle (about 2 years) and a mature 6-year-old (also shown up close). Confession: The leg jesses have cloned out in the flying shots.

They are certainly majestic looking birds, love how you captured their outstretched wings in flight. The portrait is amazing, how wonderful to have access to this facility.

Again - your photography astounds me. I do love cats, but birds are a close second. What a beautiful close-up

Worth clicking them to see the larger image. How wonderful for both you and the center that you can take and share your bird pictures.

Thank you. There are some good photo ops there. When I purchased my first DSLR in August 2005, the BOP was the first place I went to seriously test the new camera. I've donated many photos to the BOP for many projects such as signs and Power Point presentations. Our front door is 170 m (2-minute walk) from the entry to to BOP which is located in a large town park. The BOP itself covers about 16 acres and gets thousands of visitors annually. This is the same young bald eagle and the jesses (leather tethers) are dangling from its legs. The jesses are held by the handlers to control the birds and make sure they don't fly away unintentionally. (It's happened.)
