In the past Adobe told me that I could exchange my Windows for a Mac Platform but now since it was CS5 it appears not so. NOTE: As Creative Suite 6 is no longer sold or supported, platform or language exchanges are not available for it. I am going to be turning off my 2012 Windows computer soon as the M1X Mac mini comes out. Maybe I just bite the bullet and move onto a CC subscription and have the full Photoshop. That might be ok. If anyone has any thoughts on this, I would appreciate that.

I spoke to a friend who had worked for Apple, Michael. She directed me to this question in the Apple Support Community, but said that issue may have been resolved by now. She recommended you call 1800MYAPPLE. They do not work on commission and would be able to give you the best advice.

That is totally resolved now. They have native M1 support and always had it with the Intel Emulator called Rosetta. The M1's are great. Its really the Adobe issue. I don't think they will enable me to have CS5 for the Mac.

Someone posted a similar issue on the DPReview forum and reported back saying that Adobe was helpful. This was back in 2019; they may not do it any longer. This was the result . . . Source: CS5 + Mac If you decide to contact Adobe, I would recommend you do it via Adobe Custom Care (the "chat" route). When you call them, you may face a long waiting time. But, if your prefer to call them, this is their Help phone number -- 1 (800) 833-6687.

after reading the DPReview thread it appears it wont run on a newer Macs . . . If I were in your shoes, I would still try to get the Mac download link. Who knows? It may work! I am a Windows user. I got PS CS5 and PS CS6 when I still had Windows XP. There were all these rumors that they wouldn't work on more recent Windows versions. Lo and behold! Both PS CS versions work just fine on Windows 10 (on two computers).

Sepiana I put in a message to the author of that thread. See what he says. There have been some major changes to Mac OS and I can see why it won't run on a new version. I'll see what he says. Depending on how I progress I may want the full PS anyway including the new features. My program back then had me skipping every other upgrade so it was like $5 a month, and now its $10. I can't complain about that really. Time will tell as I am not expecting these Mac Minis with the M1x for a 3-4 months.

Here was the authors response -
This is similar to my experience with my coffee roasting software which older Macs won't run anymore because of some of the underlying building blocks not supporting those OS. This has been useful information for me to learn.
I have tried ON1 in 2018 but I never got deep enough in it to feel comfortable.
