This spider, or some of his relatives, for many years, insists on building a web across our doorway. Sometimes, I forget and head out the door, and it's like getting a big sticky fish net wrapped around my head. We keep the broom right beside the door = open the door, grab the broom, wipe away the web, --- and it is rebuilt and waiting the next trip in or out. Yellow-banded Orb Weaver Spider (Araneidae) Tan to dark brown, some have colorful patterns. Long skinny legs with a dark colored violin-shaped mark on the cephalothorax, or top of its body. The Yellow-banded Orb Weaver has only six eyes instead of the usual eight. They like porches and gardens; sometimes, they’ll build a web in a doorway or window sill. They are expert web builders; no other spider makes a more organized and grid-like web. Many orb-weavers build a new web each day. Most orb-weavers tend to be active during the evening hours; they hide for most of the day; generally, towards evening, the spider will consume the old web, rest for approximately an hour, then spin a new web in the same general location; thus, the webs of orb-weavers are generally free of the accumulation of detritus common to other species webs. They are almost always found inside their webs.

Great pictures, awesome looking spiders, we have them in our garden thankfully and not in the doorways.
