Grain corn, right? Close up for sure. The stalk end of an ear of field corn; actually two different ears. I broke those two ears off some stalks that were knocked down on the very same day and at the very same spot as where I snapped the photo of the guys examining the expensive damage to the silage chopper. They were green as poison and my intention was to shuck them and feed them to my horse as sort of a treat. Somehow, that didn't happen and they laid around and dried out very nicely. I need to get back down there and get a bunch more for my 8-yr-old assistant to run through her antique cast-iron hand-cranked sheller.
