For the last few weeks, each evening when I am feeding my horse, way off in the distance to the West, there will be two or three huge "Vees" of Geese or Cranes or whatever that will pass from North to South, honking and hollering, and making quite a racket.
This evening, about ten minutes before dark, I was out there as I have been every evening for the last fifty-some-odd years, feeding my horse.
I could hear Geese making their racket; when, completely out of the usual routine, a herd of about a hundred flew right over our heads; they were very low and so close that I could see the individual feathers.
I could have taken some pretty decent shots with my point-n-shoot --- if it had not been on the belt in my other pants inside the house.
I was finished and just about to go back inside when another group, maybe half as many, came from the East and right over my head, even closer than the first group.
I have now resolved to set up my Gimbel tomorrow evening, and the next several evenings, and stay out there until it is too black to see, so as to insure that no more geese will appear.
As I have been typing this missive, it is pitch dark out there, and I have heard no less than three more groups come out of the East and fly right over the house.

so as to insure that no more geese will appear. Ain't that the truth. Good luck in your venture. Post photos. I am waiting for the huge flocks (tens of thousands) of snow geese to arrive in our area. Found about 10,000 yesterday. If the weather holds (our local snow has almost gone now...never snowed farther north), there should be 50,000 and more on one or two lakes about 35 minutes from the house. Love it! Clive

Hope they don’t see your set-up and you can get some shots of these birds.

Any luck yet, BuckSkin? Hope you are well wrapped up, and have something hot to drink, while you are waiting out there.

My plan must be working; two evenings so far = see no geese and hear no geese.
