This may be old news to everyone else, but I am rather excited that I figured out this new-to-me trick for saving website addresses pertaining to my software programs.
I keep all of my program installers, plug-ins, and such in meticulously organized folders, with any notes as to installation, program use, or whatever kept in that same folder.
Always before, I have bookmarked any official sites, information sources, and what-have-you in the browser bookmarks; this used to be a wonderful way of keeping up with things --- until, the browsers changed their way of bookmarking and you can no longer bookmark a site in a dozen different places = bookmark it once and any subsequent attempts at bookmarking are "Edit this Bookmark" = not very handy at all.
So, I finally got the bright idea of creating a simple text file within the programs folder and copy/pasting any pertinent links in that text file.
I know exactly where all of my program files are stored and I can go there, open the text file, and copy the link to be pasted into the browser - any browser, in less time than it would take me to figure out just where the browser bookmark might be; of course, I also have to remember which of my many browsers the bookmark is in.

Hi BuckSkin, I am using Chrome v95 on Win 10 and it allows me to bookmark a url multiple times in different folders. Chrome also allows me to copy/paste existing bookmarks to other bookmark folders. I would think all modern browsers allow you to have multiple bookmarks saved of the same url. Which browser and version are you using that doesn't allow you to do this as well?

Chrome - latest version as it automatically updates itself Pale Moon latest version FireFox - about three versions behind I cannot get any of those three to allow multiple bookmarkings and haven't been able to for several years. If I click the Bookmark button and the page is already bookmarked, it will allow me to edit the location, but not have multiple locations. Maybe there is something in settings that I am not seeing.

My Chrome v95 is the latest version on Win 10 so I don't know why it doesn't work for you and it does for me.
Which operating system are you running?

Which operating system are you running? Windows 7 and it will be Windows 7 until they come up with a real way to run Windows 7 programs in Linux Mint. The older versions of Windows Explorer or whatever it was called, and as best I remember most other browsers used to allow multiple bookmark locations, but I haven't been able to do it in several years, long before Win 10 came about.

Ok, no problem. Running an OS that is no longer supported is your choice to make for your own reasons.
But I suspect you will most probably need to look for workarounds like you have with your bookmarks issue when things no longer work the way you expect or not even work at all.
And you might be forced to run older versions of applications.
The latest version of Chrome works just fine on Win 10 regarding multiple copies of bookmarks.
