When I get finished editing a group of image files, I always "Save As" first a PSD in a particular folder - different from the one the files originated from; and then, I "Save As" a jpeg in yet again another different folder.
This can become endless drudgery.
I have Elements 7 and also Elements 7+
I have nosed around and not seeing it if it is there; is there a means of automatically saving all open files in the manner I pick and choose ?

BuckSkin, I'm not sure this will help but you could try the Process Multiple Files feature (File > . . .). In the dialog box, . . . - Process Files From > Opened Files - File Type > Convert Files to > . . . select the format you want

Thanks; I will play around with "Process Multiple Files" and see what I can come up with.

I don't want to hijack that discussion but I have the same question"How to save as - all open files" for a different purpose. There may be solutions of the same kind, like the process multiple files solution provided by Sepiana, so here is my own problem.
"How to save all open files in versions sets in the original folder?
Why? - I always keep my originals unedited and create version sets for my edited versions (a key feature of the organizer). - For a fast and efficient workflow, I batch edit both my raws and jpegs in ACR. After editing up to 50 files in ACR, I 'open' in the editor and continue the editing. As a result, I want to save each edited file, 95% in jpeg, 5% in psd/tiff. Then I can use the 'process multiple files' or the 'Save all' script in Elements+.
- The problem is to batch save in a version set. After all editing, I have to close and do a save as version set for each file.
- In a number of cases, I want to work in two separate batches, one without any editing in the editor, but creating a full res jpeg version set of the raw edits. Then another batch editing in the editor for the files needing additional tweaks to the raw edits. That way, 80% of my photos are easy to browse in the organizer, they are ready to print, they show as top of version set in albums etc. The other 20% would need a further editing session from the raw or jpeg original.
That does not require much time compared with the editing time, but it's repetitive and annoying.
A possible solution would be to use one of the two above solutions; then to run the automatic similarity stacking feature to replace the version set feature. That may be worthwile for big batches, but I don't see the advantage of speed for normal batches.
There is also an alternative workflow involving the "Export" as new files of the organizer. You only process your batch in ACR and finish by clicking 'Done'. The raw edits are saved in xmp or metadata header and you can use the Export function to export in your preferred format and size (and rename...) The results are NOT saved in the catalog, you have to import them. You may want to stack them with the original as required above.
So, I am open to any advice or solution for this problem.

Michel, Saving files in version sets seems to be not scriptable. The ScriptListener doesn't record this option to the log. If I append "_edited-1" to the saved copy name (as the "Version Set" option does) the Organizer doesn't see the new file at all.

I had no hope for including 'in version set' as an option for the 'save as' command with a batch of files. There might be a risk that some items in the batch are not eligible to be saved as version set.

I will give that a try; it may be a better alternative to Process Multiple Files. If I am very careful in my selection of options, Process Multiple Files will speed my process up a lot; however, when it finishes, it closes out the files; thus, after I save them as PSD, I must reload them to save again as jpeg. The Process Multiple Files rename option is very limited, so I don't use it. What I have been doing that works fairly well and saves a bunch of time compared to manually doing them one-by-one is to have Process Multiple Files dump everything in a temporary folder as PSD, then use Advanced Renamer to fix the names as I want; then, I reload the renamed PSD back in Elements and have Process Multiple Files save them all again as jpegs in yet another temporary folder. I can then drag/drop the files into their permanent folders. If this "Copy All to Folder" script will do it's thing while leaving the open files still in Elements, then it will speed things up by me not having to reload.

BuckSkin, I tested out Elements+ Copy to Folder and it worked and did not close the files in Elements. It works for me ONCE per batch; but, when I then go to save the second time, it gives an error and I don't even get the dialogue. I "Copy to Folder"as PSD, that works fine, and all of my files remain open; however, when I then go to copy again, this time as jpegs, I only ever get the error. If I can't get this error business sorted, it has popped in my head that I could combine the use of both; E+ "Copy to Folder" to save the PSDs and then Elements "Process Multiple Files" which will then save the jpegs and close out everything.

All figured out and Good To Go !
After a single use of E+ Copy All to Folder, from that point on, instead of the dialogue appearing, I kept getting an error.
Andrei came to the rescue and provided me with another file/script thingie which I replaced the original with = no more error and all is working perfectly = Thank You Andrei !
After a bit of practice, I have got this down to a system.
I finish editing all open files to the ready to save point.
Since the Copy All to Folder command in Elements + does it's task and leaves the files still open in Elements, I run it to save everything as PSD; I have checked and rechecked behind it and have not yet caught it making any mistakes, so I am very confident in using it.
Then, since Elements > File > Process Multiple Files (thank you Sepiana) does it's task and also closes the files out of Elements, I use it to save them as highest quality jpegs.
When I have more than a couple files to edit, this has really sped up my process; and, also, since it does the whole works in one fell swoop, there is little room for me getting mixed up and skipping part of the process.
I only have to navigate to the required landing place one time per batch, instead of switching back and forth for every file when doing them individually.
Thanks, everyone !
