University of Lethbridge, January 3, 2022. University Hall. When this main building (University Hall is the foreground, wide building) was first built 50 years ago it sat alone on the coulees. Unfortunately other buildings have surrounded it since the beginnings. When it sat alone it was amazing. It it still is. This is a four-shot pano taken with a telephoto at 200 mm focal length.  University Hall (1971) www.ulethbridge.ca/facilities/development/content/university-hall-1971Without doubt, the design and construction of the University of Lethbridge is the crowning achievement of Lethbridge Modern. It is a key work in the career of Canada's most esteemed architect of the 20th century, Arthur Erickson of Vancouver. Published around the world, it is also the most famous Alberta building designed in the 1960s, and its ideas have shaped many subsequent university and public buildings. Just as important, the building is a testament to the fresh forward thinking of Lethbridge's civic leaders and university officials, who risked the unusual to ensure their new campus had the best possible design. Future generations will appreciate that what is now called University Hall is a very important building to the history of Canadian architecture. |

Judging doesn’t get any easier with so many beautiful images to choose from. However, choose I must so here are the three that I have chosen this time round. Blackmutt - A night at the museum - a nice atmospheric image and I love the lighting around the building. Dandc - Late Fall Sunset The undulating hills of this image and that beautiful sky just tipped it for me between this one and dandc’s other Star Mill image. And my IOW is from Kathylee - Alexandria, Virginia. I keep coming back to this image. I find something compelling about it and the soft vignette helps to draw the eye into the image through that spectacular rigging. Thank you to all who participated this week. I’m sorry I couldn’t choose all of you.  |

Judging is never easy, Lillias. I am so appreciative of all of our members who are willing to come forward and take on this challenge.
Congratulations to Judy for her beautiful nighttime capture and Dan for a his softly lit landscape. Kathylee, the focus on the foreground rigging
makes this a very intriguing image. Well done everyone!
