I would appreciate if you flower people would identify these. >>>UPDATE:>>>Now Identified(Thanks to the identifiers) = Purple Deadnettle (Lamium purpureum)They are tiny; much smaller than the photos would have you believe. These tiny pink flowers were growing against the base of the shop porch steps. The very same type plant is very prolific along the bottom of the barn walls and tends to stay green as poison all winter long. They also seem to be quite resistant to 41% Glyphosine Herbicide. I have never seen blooms on the ones at the barn.
I laid on my belly to take these extreme close-ups with a couple of extension tubes and a +4 diopter lens. Thanks; that means a lot coming from someone who nails the shot every time. These plants just got a start a few years ago and took over around the base of my horse barn. They are "soft and fluffy" is the only way I know to describe them. I "leaned in" to achieve focus, moving my head and the camera closer until the flower came into focus.

That is definitely it; thanks. According to this: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lamium_purpureumit is common to the Western United States. I get Alfalfa hay from Kansas, Idaho, Utah, and Colorado. I bet this stuff rode in here in the Alfalfa and is why it is thickest where the hay drops along the inside of the wall and thus gets nudged out from under the wall. It is thickest just outside of where the hay mangers are mounted. It says you can eat it, but I think I will let someone else try it first and observe them for a few days.

Purple Deadnettle (Lamium purpureum) Compare these 31-March examples with the 30-November ones in the two original posts. I suspect our start of this rode in here in Western Alfalfa hay. At first, the only place I saw it was up close against the barn walls adjacent to the hay mangers. Now, it has spread wildly and is thick as hair all over the barn lots and both sides of the driveway. Bees are supposed to really like it. It is said to be edible; you try it and let me know the outcome. Without close examination and good photo comparisons, it is easily mistaken for Henbit.

It's pretty and if it will attract the bees that's a good thing, right? Are youhappy it found its way to your property?

It's pretty and if it will attract the bees that's a good thing, right? Are youhappy it found its way to your property? The jury is still out on that; if it starts smothering out grass that Ol' Henry eats, then I will hit it with some environmentally friendly politically correct 2-4-D. I hope it isn't like the invasion of Brown Marmorated Stink Bugs that have taken over; I was reading in the local paper that they are wreaking havoc on fruit and vegetable crops. Speaking of bees, all of the bee people I know are either laying in Bearwallow Cemetery or in the old folks home. All of the younger generation are highly allergic to bee stings, so they are not going to step up and take their place. I believe breathing fumes from unleaded gas and too much organic health food is the cause of our younger generation all being so deadly allergic to so many things. Thirty years ago, I never heard of a kid being allergic to peanuts or cinnamon or bee stings.

Nice photos of pretty plants. Hope they stay under control. I like your thinking BTW.
