Like the title says, What's the Deal with the Little Squares ?
For the last few days, I have started seeing little squares in people's text; sometimes at the end and sometimes in the middle; sometimes a single square and sometimes two or three or more.

Can you provide a screenshot of what you are seeing, BuckSkin? Do the squares appear where there are supposed to be images? Occasionally I will see one where there is supposed to be a picture but if I wait a few seconds the picture appears.

These are not the missing picture squares and they even show up in posts that have visible pictures. I will get a screenshot and post it. |

Can you provide a screenshot of what you are seeing I wondered if they might not be where "smilies" were supposed to be; but, on the same pages where these appear, there are plenty of posts with visible smilies as well.    |

Smilies ... Well...., that solves that mystery ! Some I see; some I get little squares. This just started a couple days ago and may disappear as mysteriously as it began. |

It looks like those squares are where a "smiley" image is being inserted, but not ones using the "Insert Smiley" button on the edit ribbon. Does it always happen with just one member's posts, perhaps?

The first place I noticed the little squares was in one of pontiac1940's posts; at the time, I thought he knew some new trick and had placed them intentionally. Then, all of a sudden, I got to seeing them randomly in other people's posts; and, I got to thinking maybe everyone knew something I didn't and maybe they had some significance. Gradually, it began to sink in that they probably had something to do with smileys. It may just be in my head; but, I believe smileys have replaced the little squares in some of the posts where I had first been seeing the little squares; as, when hmca asked for screenshots, they weren't as easy to find as they first had been. |

If you edit your post and then click the BBCode tab, you will see references to the smiley graphics hosted by ProBoards, and they others are actual graphics embedded in the post. That doesn't explain the squares BuckSkin had been seeing though. |
