We saw these trees along the road today, and they looked so much like a person on horseback that we stopped to grab some photos. I developed it in Lightroom then moved it into PSE for some more fun. I grabbed an image from the web and made a selection to isolate the main figure, then copied it into my photo, resized and positioned it. I don't know if it works or not, as my wife was unimpressed, but I though I'd post it here anyway.

Hi preeb, nice photo but your comment saying you "grabbed" a photo from the web and then copied it into yours suggests to me that you didn't get permission to do so from the owner of the photo you grabbed. If that is the case I will assume you don't mind if I or someone else "grabs" any photos you post on the Internet and use them in their images and claim them to be their work. The copyright symbol on photos is meaning less since 99.99% of them can be easily cloned out of images. But nice photo and effect anyway

suggests to me that you didn't get permission to do so from the owner of the photo fstop, Your concern is appreciated, but quite likely unwarranted. It is well-understood by most members here that images can not be used without permission, UNLESS those pictures have been offered on one of the several free image sites. Many of us use morguefile as a source of material to incorporate, but there are others that also offer images for use with little or no restriction.

yes ok, point taken. I suppose I was being a bit picky because in reality just because I see a copyright symbol on a photo doesn't mean that person actually owns the photo in its entirety. Maybe they do, maybe they don't. I'm sure everyone also realises it's very easy to remove most copyright watermarks and slap their own copyright watermark on an image or composite if they wanted to for some reason. That's why I would only believe ownership of a photo if it was declared by an appropriate court of law. Too many people see all images on the Internet as "fair game" and so I don't publish photos on the Internet, especially in public arenas like this one. I won't question ownership of images on this site anymore
