This machine is equipped with a manual "Thumb"
The linkage can be positioned in either of three holes for various angles.
The bucket then clenches whatever against the "thumb"
This is a necessity for picking up tree trunks, logs, brush, house roofs and walls, and etc.
More modern Thumbs have a hydraulic cylinder in place of the rigid linkage so that the thumb can be brought against the bucket instead of the bucket being brought against the thumb.
Notice that someone has used a welding rod to permanently write the model and serial number on the bucket.
This is not as easy as it looks; I have done the same myself, writing my name on the frame of livestock trailers, trucks, tractors, implements, and the like; it is hard to deny ownership when one's name is welded into the frame.
