Can PSE 2022 do focus stacking within the program or do I need to purchase additional software such as Elements+ as indicated in previous threads about previous versions? Cheers, Roger

There's no focus stacking in PSE 2021 Guided. You might give PhotoMerge exposure a try just as an experiment; I've not tried this because Elements+ works so well and is reasonably priced $12.
Above example is a simple pic; I have doubts whether this will function well on a detailed landscape.

Can PSE 2022 do focus stacking within the program or do I need to purchase additional software such as PSE+ as indicated in previous threads about previous versions? Hi Roger, A possible way to do it in Elements would be to use Photomerge Group Shot. This feature used to be in Expert Edit > Enhance > . . .). Starting with PSE 14, it's located in Guided Edit. Guided mode - Photomerge Edits (Help file). Focus stacking for Depth & Clarity, PET magazine, v12, n6, Aug 2015, p16OrYou could use Elements+ (as Pete suggested). This is an add-on created by one of our members -- Andrei Doubrovski. Focus StackingBTW, it's my understanding that the demo version of Elements+ contains only a few "items" (adjustment, selecting, and masking tools) from the full version. I may be wrong but I don't think scripts such as Focus Stacking can be found in the demo version. Andrei is best qualified to elaborate on this; I'm sending him a PM bringing this thread to his attention.
