One of the outstanding free plugins by Redfield is called "Water Ripples". I have not seen anything like it anywhere else. Using your imagination you can create some unique effects. If you wish, you can download it here. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on, "SetupRedfieldPlugins.exe 9 filters package 473 kB". www.redfieldplugins.com/Downloads.htmAfterwards go to this page and click on, "presetsWaterRipples.zip". Unzip and double click to add the preset .reg file to the registry. These are all safe files so you can safely ignore any warnings from Windows during the install. www.redfieldplugins.com/filterWaterRipples.htmHere is an example of what "Water Ripples" can do. Unaltered Photo of Almond Blossoms: Water Ripples Example 1: Water Ripples Example 2: The downside is that this is a 32 bit plugin which will only work with the older 32 bit versions of Photoshop or PS Elements. So it's always good to have an older 32 bit version of PS Elements installed for these situations. The plugin will also work with the free 32 bit version of Irfanview. www.irfanview.com/plugins.htmKind regards Chris

I just downloaded the two packages, plus I got the free Sharplet thingie. I haven't yet investigated any of it. I tried to download ONLY the Water Ripples; however, when I clicked the download button, it kept kicking me back to the original page where you have to download the nine piece package. When I go to install this, am I going to have to install all nine components; or, will I have the option to select only Water Ripples ?
Does the installer just load some plug-ins in the plug-in folder, or does it also install odds and ends in the Registry and other places ?
Thanks for sharing this.

Hello Buckskin. I have had these 32 bit plugins for years and have not experienced any problems*. From what I understand, the installer will install 8BF files in your PSE folder inside a folder called "Redfield". (eg C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 9\Plug-Ins\Redfield). I don't know if these plugins also install dll files in system 32. Developers sometimes use .dll files which are basically time saving ready made code that other programs need. The recommended optional install for "Water Ripples" is to install the preset file available on this page www.redfieldplugins.com/filterWaterRipples.htm. This works by adding information to the registry. I have this installed and have not experienced any problems. Without installing the presets, "Water Ripples" will only work in manual mode and you will have to play around with the settings. I hope this helps. Kind regards Chris * It's quite common when installing Redfield plugins that you will get a security warning from Windows because they are not common downloads. Just ignore the warning and select "Install anyway"

BuckSkin, The .exe file you download is designed to install all the 9 plug-ins. However, when you you run this file, you will be given the choice of installing only the plug-in(s) you want. You can just select Water Ripples.

I have ran into a wee bit of a conundrum; when I ran the installer, it acted as if everything went off as it should; and then, when I clicked Finish, I get a pop-up that says it did not install correctly and do I want it to re-install and fix the problem.
It did this on both plug-ins in all three of my 32-bit applications on my 64-bit Windows 7 Pro machine; Photoshop CS2, Elements 7 and 12.
I was not sure of which route would be safe so I just clicked Cancel.
Now, the Redfield folder shows up in Filters and the plug-ins show up in the Redfield folder; however, when I click a plug-in, I get an error that says it cannot run.
Would it be safe to run the installer again and this time allow it to do whatever it is that it thinks it needs to do ?
Has anyone else come against this when installing the Redfield plug-ins ?
=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x= EDIT: UPDATE: I read the FAQ at Redfield and it seems this must be a common problem. That had a download of a file that is supposed to fix it.
So..., instead of downloading that file, I went back and ran the installer again and this time I allowed the pop-up to do whatever it was wanting to do and now everything seems to work.
THANKS for pointing us toward that site and those plug-ins.
