This photo is nothing to brag about and I would not have posted it; however, while researching the subject matter, I stumbled upon an interesting and tragic story directly connected to these trucks. These garbage trucks and several more belong to Bowman Waste and are located at their headquarters in Fincastle. Satellite View and Street View show there to be at least a dozen garbage trucks, most being Louisville Line Fords, and all equipped with Leach beds. swsequipment.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/Leach-Alpha-III.pdfAmongst all this sits one old Ford fire truck. Bowman had all safety signals flashing and was wearing reflective safety clothing. According to descriptions of the crash, the 72-yr-old Alabama woman must have been flying low to the ground; most likely fiddling with a cell-phone. I enjoy seeing glimpses of places that are included in your posts, Buckskin. Our members are spread out across the country and across the globe so it is interesting to see images that include part of their familiar landscape. Now don't be too horror struck but I rarely consult google maps satellite views so it took me a little while to navigate around the different areas. Anyway, I came to this farm and wondered if it was one that you had posted. I think it was called The Fling Barn. And here's a mystery for you.....can you explain the shoes seen in this screenshot?

I came to this farm and wondered if it was one that you had posted. No; that's not one of mine. It is just a few miles East of where we passed through on US Hwy 62. I see "Pride and Joy Pet Crematorium" between there and Hwy 62; I bet that is a money-making racket. I can't explain the shoes, but I do occasionally see weird things like that in Street View; but, that is not Street View, but a photo someone has posted --- at least I think it is.

Now don't be too horror struck but I rarely consult google maps satellite views so it took me a little while to navigate around the different areas. If you don't already have it, you need to get FREE Google Earth Pro. Google Maps, which you have already been investigating, has Street View, which is wonderful for getting a 360° ground-level view of anywhere that they have been to capture them (the blue lines). In all other aspects, Google Earth Pro is quicker and better, plus you can customize it by adding various "layers" and by adding your own placemarks and such. If you have both, FastStone and Google Earth Pro, in FastStone, in Image Properties, you can click the little blue globe icon and Google Earth Pro will open and zoom in on the location of any GPS-equipped photo. I think it was called The Fling Barn. I am going to go out on a limb and say that, with such a name, sort of like the currently popular wedding barns, you can probably rent that barn to have a "Fling" that may not necessarily be as boring a time waste as a wedding.
