Tutorials written for the full Photoshop sometimes require you to adjust the fill opacity of a layer. * This is not the same as changing the transparency of a layer. There are various ways to change the fill opacity of a layer in Photoshop Elements. 1- Using a plugin like Elements+ etc. that adds this functionality 2- Using a work around based on the tutorial: www.yout-ube.com/watch?v=ekRvA2bBjpAHere are the steps. 1- Click on the layer that you wish to change the fill opacity. 2- Click on "Styles", then select "Visibility" from the drop down list. There are 3 boxes you can click on. Click on the box on the left for 50% fill opacity, the middle box for 0% and on the right for 100% OR: With the visibility option still open. Use the shortcut: "shift + 1" for 10% fill opacity Use the shortcut: "shift + 2" for 20% fill opacity Use "shift + the numbers 1-9" to get 10% to 90% fill opacity respectively. Kind regards Chris * For example, one of my favourite tutorials by Blake Rudis involves brushing on vibrant colour over an image on a new blank layer with the blend mode set to "Hard Mix" and the fill opacity set to 15% - 20% f64academy.com/relight-photo-hard-mix-blend-mode/ Many of Blake's tutorials require changing the fill opacity of a layer.
