The distant smoke-stacks in the background, across the Ohio on Kentucky soil, are at East Kentucky Power's Spurlock Station, North-West and downstream from Maysville. Beautiful, black, Kentucky and Ohio coal is firing big boilers, taking Ohio River water and converting it to steam power that drives huge turbines that are generating affordable electric power. There is no nonsense here. Day and night, no matter whether the sun is shining nor whether the wind is blowing, black coal in continuously being converted into electrical power. If the government and the greenies will stay off of their backs, the lights will stay on. Several places along here are slipping into the river; in several spots, the road itself is breaking away and sliding over the side. From the camera to the stacks = 1.58-mile. Notice the reflective farm implement triangles that someone has mounted to mark the location of their death-defying driveway. From the camera to the stacks = 0.69-mile.
