Well you certainly succeeded! This looks ready for a frame! I love the strong color and texture. Would you ind sharing what you used.....was it Topaz Impression? I love your results and the aqua background works beautifully!

You did a wonderful job. I've tried so many times and the results are always horrible. Did you use the digital painting effect? I've come to the conclusion, at least as far as I'm concerned, that I can't master it because I have no natural talent for traditional painting or drawing. It sounded so easy to use a photograph for the base and just digitally paint the strokes on top. I've tried many different tutorials, Dave Higgins being my favorite mentor, but no success so far. I'll probably try again some day for I do love the feeling of the painting.
You must feel very good about your success. It is well deserved.

Helen and Berie, I am delighted with your generous comments. Thank you very much. The original was processed through the "Cafe Espanyol" effect ( davrophotofx.co.uk ), then enhanced with a luminosity mask ( PET March/April, 2015 ). I think Dave Higgins, your mentor, is the brain behind the painterly effect. Thanks again, Joe

It's a beautiful picture! The turquoise is complimenting the brown skin so amazingly well. The painterly effect couldn't be better. Oh.. he's so adorable!

Thanks, Marianne. The complementary colors of subject and background were happy accidents. Joe

Joe, it's perfect! Encourages me to try oil painting effects again. Mine never have come to much, especially on portraits. Rita
