surfbug , I see that you asked your question 2 hours ago and have not had a reply. I am going to suggest again that you consider adding the pictures that you are trying to combine to the Member-to-Member Advice Bd. Of course I understand that you might prefer not to do that. And that is fine. I just think if members could see the images that you are trying to work with they might be better able to help you.

Do I change the image into smart objection first before changing anything? Hi surfbug, For starters, . . . Elements offers limited support for Smart Objects (not the same level of support available in Photoshop). In Photoshop, the user has more options; in Elements, not so many. However, if you want to work with Smart Objects, you should "tell" Elements to change the file to a Smart Object at the start of your workflow. There are two ways to do it . . . Use the File>Place command. The file will be brought into Elements as a Smart Object. ORDrag a file from the Photo/Project Bin onto another file in the workspace. NOTE:Working with Smart Objects has advantages but it also has some drawbacks. For more information, see . . . All About Smart Objects.
