I didn't know exactly where to post this question but does anyone know where I can locate a tutorial for creating the effect on my enclosed image? I composed this around 2010 using a tut by "Jack Casement" of his hand/arm image and his "hand painting" tutorial, but after searching around the web today I don't see it anywhere. Thanks.

Two copies of photo - bottom one sketch effect - top one original. Erase parts on top layer to let sketch effect show through

an example For the hand, I'd recommend a google search. That's how I find all my 'stuff' hand with brushBe careful about copyright That really is an interesting, fun concept you are trying to duplicate. Good luck.

Use a B&W/Pencil Sketch action:1. Duplicate your photo. 2. Run the sketch action on the duplicate. 3. Place the sketch photo on top of the original photo. 4. Add a layer mask to the sketch layer. 5. Paint with Black over the areas you want to hide some the sketch effect. NOTE:We have some Sketch actions for download (FREE) in . . . All About Actions. A layer mask will give you editing flexibility. If you make a mistake and hide too much of the sketch effect, just paint over with White to reveal the sketch. Go to websites that offer PNG files (transparent background) and look for a hand/pencil. Ex.: PNGWing. You can find more of such sites in . . . Clipart on our Goodies board. EDIT:fotofrank wrote a tutorial for CE #52. You may want to check it out. It enables you to create a sketch effect and, then, bring some of the original photo back. Thank you Janice and Sepiana!
I don't remember ever trying actions before but it looks like it's an area I need to look into eventually.

Using Sepiana's action Those dots above the building are snowflakes One of the steps in the action was the b/w - I liked it, so I included it in the example
