Using any of the selection tools a selection can be made but I do not get the "marching ants", this is intermittent, closing app and reopening gets the ants back. Using PSE 2022 for windows. is this a settings issue?

Hi thewalker,
I also have PSE 2022 (Windows) installed on two machines; I haven't encountered this problem. So, I'm taking a very long shot in the dark.
Try this "trick". It seems to fix many glitches Elements develops.
1. Right-click on the desktop shortcut and select "Run as administrator". 2. Test the selection tools. 3. If everything is working fine, close Elements. 4. Open Elements again but this time do it from your standard user account.

If you ever find a permanent solution, I am interested in knowing about it.
I use Elements 7 and my ants disappear quite often for no apparent reason at all; sometimes with the plain old Lasso tool, but more often with the Rectangular Selection tool. My selection will still follow whatever path I may take; I just can no longer see what I am doing. I might change tools and then come back to the selection tool and everything be back to normal.
If it is an intricate selection, I Save Selection prior to any further messing around so I don't lose my place I might then Edit > Stroke Selection > Centered on a blank layer so I can see my selection via a more visible means.
Oh....., just to be clear, I have marching ants when I start the selection; they just decide to vacate the scene in the middle of progress.

Just wondering - What happens if you press Ctrl+h when this happens?

Just wondering - What happens if you press Ctrl+h when this happens? Frank, I'm so glad you brought this shortcut up. I was not aware of it. I tried it and, yes, it reveals/hides a selection's marching ants. Thanks! I learnt something.

No idea; I never knew to try that; I will try and remember to give it a try the next time my ants disappear. Thanks.
