Having a problem with the clone in the Editor of PSE9. The clone stamp is not working. No results after taking a sample when trying to repair.
Also what is the keyboard short to change the pixel size?
It's been a long time since I used PSE and I can't remember many things.
Thank You for the help!

Hi stringbean, welcome to PSE&M! Glad to have you here.
First of all, let's make sure you are following all the steps when using the Clone Stamp tool.
www.photokaboom.com/photography/learn/Photoshop_Elements/clone_stamp_tool/1_clone_stamp_tool_basics.htm If you are doing everything by the book and this tool is still not working, let's try resetting it. Go to the left end of the Tool Options bar, click on the tiny downside arrow, and select "Reset Tool".
Now to your question -- "Also what is the keyboard short to change the pixel size?" -- What are you trying to do exactly? Would you please give us more details? Thanks!

Also what is the keyboard short to change the pixel size? Use the square bracket keys - the ] to increase size, the [ to decrease. Bayla

The clone stamp is not working. No results after taking a sample when trying to repair. Also, make sure that the layer that you are working on is at 100% opacity.

The most common reason for the clone stamp to behave as you describe is when "all layers" is not checked in the options bar (across the top of the image screen" If "all layers" is not checked, then the clone stamp is only taking samples from what is probably a clear blank layer that has no pixel information. Another possible is that the opacity of the clone stamp itself may not be at 100%; this option is also located in the options bar. If none of these solutions cure the problem, with the clone stamp activated, click EDIT and then, in the drop-down menu that appears, click PRESET MANAGER; a dialogue box will appear --- don't make any changes in this box, just click DONE; for mysterious reasons that nobody understands, following this procedure often cures all manner of problems one may be having in getting tools to respond properly. Also, and this only applies if you are using a pen tablet instead of a mouse, un-plug the USB of the pen tablet, wait a minute, and plug the USB back in. Thanks for reading.

If you are meaning increasing the view size, there are several avenues to accomplish this; the keyboard method is ctrl plus = (which shares a key with +)
To decrease size, ctrl - (the minus sign)

Just adding some clarification.
The Preset Manager "fix" suggested earlier in this thread doesn't work for all the tools in the Tools panel. It is to be used to solve problems with the libraries of preset brushes, color swatches, gradients, and patterns managed by the Preset Manager. Any other tool in the Tools panel which is not working properly should be addressed by using the standard technique -- Reset Tool.
If the problem with the Clone Stamp tool stringbean is experimenting is caused by the Opacity or the Mode not being set to 100% and Normal, respectively, resetting this tool should take care of the problem. When you reset a tool you restore its settings to their default. On the other hand, if the problem is due to working on a new layer and not having "Sample All Layers" turned on, resetting this tool won't solve the problem. This setting is turned off by default.
I believe the Clone Stamp tool has a mind of its own. When you select a new sample point this tool is supposed to reset itself (preparing itself for the next sample point). However, sometimes it just won't do it. That's when "Reset Tool" will come into play. If this doesn't do it, then it is time to delete the Preferences file.

One thing you can be sure. The "Sample All Layers" setting being turned off was not the culprit here because you were working on a duplicate layer. This setting has to do with repair being done on a new, blank layer.
BTW, if the original layer and not the duplicate layer was inadvertently activated when you were using the Clone Stamp tool, it may explain why you got "No results after taking a sample when trying to repair". The duplicate layer was hiding the repair on the original layer. Just a thought!
