Snapfish has a sale going on - an 8x10 canvas print for $8.99.

Although canvas prints mute your photo just by being printed on canvas, there are many photos that will work well for this technique.
Realize that the edges of your photo will be wrapped around the sides of the wood frame they mount the canvas on.
Make sure you don't have something important along the edges.
In looking into this another time, some sites have the ability to put a solid
color along the edges, so you don't have your photo itself wrapped around the frame. That might be an option
I don't have personal experience with Snapfish (that I can remember) but they have been around for a long, long time - I'd trust them
I doubt you can find any 8x10 canvas print at a retail store for this price - and to have your own photo on the wall? Such fun.
