I'm very familiar with working with layers using On1, but I can't seem to find or know the correct terminology "make a new stamped layer" using PSE 2021. I'm helping someone else with PSE to make a composite of 2 images using screen blend mode. The function I want is to combine two or more layers into a new layer with all the adjustments "baked in"
TIA Pete

Pete,
In Elements this kind of layer is called Composite Layer. When you run the Stamp Visible command, Elements automatically creates a new layer at the top of the layer stack and fills it with the contents of all your visible layers.
1. Make sure the top layer is selected.
2. Run the Stamp Visible Command by pressing Shift-Alt-Ctrl-E (Shift-Option-Cmmd-E on a Mac).

If you only want certain layers combined and "baked", then make only those layers visible (hide all the others) and "Stamp Visible". The new "Stamped" layer will appear immediately above whichever layer you have selected; if you want it at the top of the stack, make certain the top layer is selected.
Many versions of Elements do not have the Stamp Visible command (unless you have Elements + ); in any version that lacks the Stamp Visible command, to achieve the Stamped layer, in the Layer drop-down menu, click and hold Merge Visible and press the Alt key = hold the Alt key until you release Merge Visible = a new Stamped layer should appear in the stack.
If you select Merge Visible without using the Alt key, all visible layers will combine into a single "baked" layer and will no longer be available as independent individual layers.
I hope this helped.

As far as I know, the Stamp Visible command is available in all versions of Elements. The way to bring it up is to use a shortcut: Shift-Alt-Ctrl-E/Shift-Option-Cmmd-E. As a side note, . . . the Alt + Merge Visible command via the Layer menu can be tricky. You need to slide your cursor down the Layer menu options until you reach the Merge Visible command. Then, let the mouse go. If you don't do the sliding, the moment you click on Merge Visible the drop-down menu will just disappear.
