Corn Cob in White Clover
Wednesday_29-June-2022
I am sure there is a story behind why this is where it is.
We did have corn-on-the-cob several weeks ago; possibly some opportunistic varmint scavenged the left-over cob from our scrap pile; but, I really don't see much purpose there, as I always bite off every last morsel with little or no thought to my scavenging outdoor woodland friends.
It could have been an entire ear, shucks and all, that was stolen from the neighbors garden.
It could have came from the other neighbors corn silage field; but, it doesn't appear to be long enough to be mature silage corn.
It is quite close to our fresh-water spring; some Indian in a scalp-hunting party could have sat here, ate his corn, and tossed the cob.
It could have possibly fallen from an aircraft passing overhead.
And, this being Kentucky, it is entirely possible that some poor misguided redneck has used it in place of Quilted Northern in these trying times under this administration.
Whatever the case may be, I am certain there is more here than what meets the eye.

That's what corn cobs look like after my chickens have picked them clean.

BuckSkin , what a great tale you have spun from a lonely little corn cob...made me chuckle!
